Harrogate Racquets Club Table Tennis Senior Championships - Sunday 24th November 2019

A good entry in the Men’s singles led to a lively competition with an exciting  five game final between Paul Stephenson and Joe Wright, who was defending his title.

Paul caught Joe cold with two devastating games. Joe ground his way through game 3 and 4 and came to form in the fifth game taking a 5-0 lead. Paul mixed his defensive and attacking game effectively but the youngster’s lead was too much to overcome and Joe prevailed to win a well deserved victory.

In the Ladies singles Sarah Jackson beat Kate Reid by 3 games to nil. Kate’s play was hampered by her recent calf injury but there were some excellent rallies. In the end Sarah’s experience was too much for Kate to overcome.

Another young player, Nathan Crocker beat Mike Simpson to win the plate competition. Nathan and George Chan who beat Andy Chapman and Mike Simpson, won the doubles event.
