Competition

Junior Tournaments

Last weekend saw the return of our junior table tennis and badminton tournaments. We had a great number of children, so lovely to see them all compete. Here are the reports.

Junior Badminton Tournament

We had our best ever turn out for our junior tournament today which was great to see. We had to split it into two groups with the 12 of our less experienced players playing against each other and our more experienced Under 13s playing against each other. Ben Tetley proved to be too consistent and was unbeaten in the older age group. Millie Adrian-Horrocks won by winning all her games in the younger age group but it was closely fought battle for second place with Leila Barclay, Holly Westmoreland and Faye Oxtoby all coming extremely close.

The best attitude prizes were won by Joseph Horley who was playing his first tournament and Mae Broadbent who played up in the older age despite only being a year 6 and gave it her all, smiling throughout.

Table Tennis Tournament

Twelve young players attended the  junior tournament.

It was a busy afternoon with a fantastic total of 60 matches, characterised by friendliness with a great sporting attitude.

As seasoned campaigners in these events Robin and Matas were drawn as top seeds in the first group stage. Both players duly won their groups and went through to the Top group in the second stage of matches. In the second group Matthew dominated most of his matches and won the ‘Plate’ competition. Meanwhile Matas, battling through some closely contested games, became the overall winner.

A big thank you to our helpers for running and making the events such fun and well done to everyone that played. We look forward to seeing you again on Saturday 10th Novemeber.
