Last weekend saw the return of our monthly junior tournaments after the long summer break. It is so important for our junior development squads to have the opportunity to put all their work into practise. These monthly tournaments allow the children to compete in a friendly environment and in turn then highlight areas for their development in the following weeks. Quick note, please do let us know to expect your child as the draws are done ahead of the event.
Badminton
The event was supported well this month by quite a few of our older juniors so we had 2 draws. The play was competitive and some of the points just fantastic to watch as the youngetsers battled for a place in the next round. The winner of the older group was Oliver Harper, with Lewis Walsh as runner up. In the other younger group, Luke Morley was the winner with Ben Wood as runner up.
Table Tennis
The first table tennis tournament of the new season was a great display of the playing progress of our youngsters. The first round group matches created an final elite group of Matas Laukaitis, Oscar Murray, Harry Bearne and Robin Wilkins. The results went to a point count up for the group finalists after Robin beat Matas in the group. Matas went through by 1 extra point (55 points to Robin’s 54!) to play and win the final against Oscar. It was a very competitive final with great play from both players. The second group was won by Leo Murray.
Well done to all the players. We can see from these reports that the children worked really hard. A big thank you to our coaches, helpers and supporters for making the events run so smoothly.
We look forward to seeing you all next month - 2nd Novemeber
