Jane Allen is celebrating international honours after leading Wales to victory in the Senior Four Nations in Wrexham over the bank holiday weekend.
A doubles specialist, Jane captained a Wales over 65s team which featured Swansea tennis club duo Ellinore Lightbody and Jenny Burrows.
The tournament features two singles and one doubles match, with Jane featuring in the impressive 3-0 victory over Scotland and the 2-1 win over Ireland.
It set up an epic title decider against England which Wales clinched in the final doubles game.
The trio finished the tournament as the only Welsh team to win their age group in Wrexham, with the outstanding Lightbody winning all six of her singles and doubles matches.
This was the second time Jane had captained Wales at the bi-annual tournament and rounds off a successful season where she also led Haverfordwest ladies to the south Wales winter veterans league title.
“I have to admit, when I saw I had Ellinore and Jenny in the team, I thought we could do very well, they are both quality players," said Jane.
“Elinore was simply in a league of her own, she only dropped 13 games throughout the entire weekend, while Jenny played a stormer in the all-important decider.
“I couldn’t be prouder of them and it was an honour and a privilege to have played a small part in the victory.
“In the 30 years I’ve played tennis I’ve been very lucky to have partnered some outstanding players, none more so than Laura Davies who is arguably the best veterans player in the country.”
