Borough served with tennis court improvements

Havant Borough Council is working with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Hayling Island Community Centre Association (HICCA) to undertake a tennis court pilot project over the next two years at Hayling Park.

Access technology has been installed at Hayling Island tennis courts, allowing users to pre-book through an online booking system free of charge to guarantee their court time. Once confirmed players are given a unique code to enter into the keypad allowing them to gain entry, this new booking system will go live on the 3rd April 2017.

Further surfacing improvement works to the courts are scheduled for spring. Once complete, users will utilise the same booking system to pay and play for their time, with the option to access coaching and other structured tennis events. This will ensure the sustainability of the courts.

Claire Hughes, Head of Communications and Community, said: "This new project, which is a result of a partnership between the LTA, HICCA and HBC, sees the upgrading of the park tennis courts which will be of great benefit to our tennis playing community.

“We hope to be able to extend this project borough-wide in the near future."
