Wildlife Stockport Grant

Exciting autumn news! HPTC have received a grant from the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

We are excited to announce that we are joining in with 'Wild Stockport' a community initiative run by Cheshire Wildlife Trust, to bring back more space for nature where we live. This September the Club submitted a bid for £540 and were awarded the full amount!

Its not all about tennis here at HPTC! When we're not playing, the Club grounds provide a tranquil location for wildlife. This grant provides a fantastic opportunity to encourage pollinating insects, hedgehogs and swifts to the grounds of the Club.

Our plans include;
- Laying a large wildlife carpet.
- Buying much needed water butts.
- Constructing a bin to make leaf compost.
- Buying and installing; hedgehog hotels, bee hotels and swift boxes.
- Planting another fruit tree.
- Installing planters around the outside of the courts to grow sunflowers.
- Future plans may also include creating a small pond.

Works will be carried out by Club members over the coming months and we are especially keen to involve the children. A huge thanks to Cheshire Wildlife Trust for granting us the money to start this new project.
