The Wimbledon Park Tennis Academy has been in operation at Wimbledon Park for over 6 years. The academy was initially called the Live Love Sport Tennis Academy but changed its name in 2019 and has been operating under its own WPTA brand name ever since. The company is still owned and managed by Live Love Sport Ltd and was founded by tennis professional Steve Cockell who has been teaching in the SW London area for over 25 years!
About the WPTA
Players coming to the WPTA are very welcome as it is our priority to make sure that players feel comfortable with the environement that they are learning in. Our academy uses the main courts at Wimbledon Park which are opposite the childrens play area. The surface is astroturf and is floodlight allowing coaching throughout the year. The tennis facilities are not owned by WPTA but we aim to try and conduct our teaching on courts No.9 & 10 for the majority of our classes.

WPTA follows the Live Love Sport coaching philosophy and aims to make learning an enjoyable and rewarding experiecnce for all of our players - from the 3 year olds to the 83 year olds! Our main aim with everyone is quite simple. We want players to reach their potential within the game of tennis with our help on the tennis court and we want players to stay with the game over the longest period possible - whether that is as a child player into being an adult player, or as an adult player into a seasoned veteran. We love to give players the chance to play the game of tennis for their whole life!
Why are we different and why should you choose WPTA?
We are one of the only community programs that actively promotes our players to improve their play in order to compete and play in organised games of tennis. We believe that players need to have goals to play against other players to get the most out of playing and to stay with the game longest. Thats why we always teach point based games, scoring and matchplay to all of our players.
About Live Love Sport & Founder, Steve Cockell
Live Love Sport Ltd are a coaching service provider and management company based in SW London. It currently operates two coaching services in 2020 - the Wimbledon Park Tennis Academy based in Wimbledon Park and Dream Team Soccer School London based at Rosslyn Park FC in Roehampton.
Live Love Sport Ltd has a philosophy of offering specialist coaching to everyone. The company aim is to recruit high level, respected coaches and allow players of all abilities to access their expertise. Live Love Sport programmes are carefully designed by Steve Cockell (owner) who has years of experience as a coach in the sports industry and has been running coaching businesses since 2002.
Steve Cockell is the founder of Live Love Sport and has a professional history of playing and coaching tennis dating back over 30 years. He is a former national junior and county player who played for 2 years on scholarship at Univeristy in the US. He has also competed with success as a senior - reaching the GB national championship Over 35s final in 2008. His buisness background includes a BSc honours degree including Sports Science and he has been incolved in running sports operations at senior mamagement level and as an owner for over 20 years.
