This is a truly unique opportunity for an ambitious, forward-thinking tennis professional or company to become the coaching partner at our lovely community club.

About Mayfield

Mayfield Tennis Club is part of Mayfield Athletic Club alongside table tennis and cricket sections.
Our facilities are modern and fully accessible to wheelchair users and disabled people.
We have 5 tennis courts (4 artificial gras/ Tiger Turf with floodlights and 1 macadam), a modern clubhouse with bar and kitchen, car park, an attractive garden and seating area.
Our vibrant, diverse and very social club community includes team players competing in local leagues, thriving disability, senior, intermediate and pay to play groups.

What we need from you:

- An ‘everyone can improve’ coaching programme for all skill levels, ages and abilities including:

  • Manage & grow disability tennis sessions with the help of our volunteers
  • Develop & deliver a schools outreach program
  • Start, organise & deliver coaching activities for children & teenagers
  • Open up opportunities to get more women & girls playing tennis 
  • Team players coaching to improve performance & increase success in local LTA
  • Leagues (we’d love you to play as part of our teams too if possible.

- Lead the organisation of club competitions & tournaments.

- Play an important role in recruiting new members from the coaching programme & local area generating additional       
   income for the club.

- Work closely with the committee, contributing new ideas, solutions, collaborating on funding applications & being
   receptive to feedback.

- Play a pivotal role in providing positive customer service & promoting our club culture through regular contact with all
   members & non-members.

- Promote & represent Mayfield using social & traditional media.


About you:

  • Minimum LTA Level 2 coaching qualification & LTA accreditation
  • High-level playing ability
  • Enthusiastic, positive, collaborative, flexible attitude 
  • Empathetic & patient teaching style, creating a fun, inclusive, & structured learning environment
  • Creative approach to session & programme development
  • Reliable, committed to delivering punctually & professionally
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an interest in building a tennis business
  • Strong organisational & communication skills
  • Drive to innovate & grow club membership
  • Passion for community development & skilled in recruiting & motivating volunteers

You may be early on in your tennis career, wanting to start your own business, a seasoned coach, a group or company of tennis coaches or anything in between. If you’re passionate about tennis, people and community this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a brilliant club, build a client base and run a successful business. We understand Rome wasn’t built in a day so you will have our full support to develop and grow at a sustainable pace. What is important to everyone at Mayfield is that we find a coaching partner who genuinely understands the crucial role that we, as a grassroots sports clubs play in our community, and wants to be part of growing and sustaining that.

By listening to what our community needs (see results from our 2024 survey) and being open to new ideas we continue to attract and retain a large number of people who are keen to learn, play and improve.
We also appreciate that the world of work and how we want it to flex and fit in with our lives has changed a lot in recent years. So, although first and foremost we’re looking for a tennis coach, here are some optional extras that you may want to consider. We are open to discussing these as part of the traditional coaching partnership or as a hybrid role:

  • Organise & run holiday camps for children and teenagers
  • Lead fitness initiatives (e.g. cardio tennis, pickleball, yoga, pilates, personal training etc)
  • Manage club bar operations &/ or Manage clubhouse hires
  • Drive social activities, club/ community events & partnerships
