AUGUST NEWSLETTER 2020

PLAYING TENNIS

Looking back at the March newsletter we can reflect on how far we have come and appreciate our wonderful sport once again. We are thrilled that so many of us are playing, in more social groups, as well as following the guidelines about – leaving the nets/ handwashing / and social distancing. We are constantly reviewing the LTA guidance and still feel that no socialising post play should take place and no club nights or mix in sessions yet – sorry!

We would like to welcome all our new members who have signed up to the club this year, it is great to see new faces and we hope you enjoying playing on the courts in this lovely weather.

Clare Cunningham-Hill has worked so hard to set up the booking system. Thanks so much Clare! We must register the names of all players, when a booking is made as this is a requirement by the LTA for track and tracing. Can we also remind all members to make sure they have paid membership and that guests can only play three times.

Rob has bought some new balls ready for when matches/ club nights start. Thanks to Rob and Jane, Richard, Helen and Mary for all their hard work with the rest of the committee. Sue has followed the safety guidelines with vigour and we are grateful.

The floodlight on court 1 has been replaced and is now working as is the warning light. Also, the padlock on courts 2 and 3 is new – same code!! Thanks to Mandy for organising this. She has purchased for the club a ball machine. We are going to make it accessible when a number of us are trained by a rep. from Withers Sports. This is exciting news – watch this space!

Individual coaching is taking place by all coaches and James and Paul will start group coaching again as soon as they are able.

The Risk Assessment is on the notice board as are new signs to follow on safety; these will also be on the website.

STAY SAFE AND ENJOY YOUR TENNIS!!
