April 2018 NEWSLETTER

Dear all, the committee are looking forward to the summer season, with plenty on offer if not plenty of sun!

MEMBERSHIP

Many have renewed or newly joined the club. Please make sure you have signed the dotted line ASAP if you wish to play in the teams for league matches. On May 1st the code to the courts will change and will be emailed out to paid members, so get joining!

MEDIA AND ADVERTISING

You will see posters around the villages advertising coaching and new events. Please tell your friends and family. We have a great coaching programme, with super coaches. The website is a great source of all events and coaching whilst our face book page is a way to catch up on news! 

UPCOMING EVENTS

The 2018 Wimbledon draw will take place on Wednesday 25th April at the clubhouse. An email will follow shortly on the draw and the format.

On Sunday 6th May we have a tournament coming up; an ‘open’ American Mixed Doubles. Please do book your place for this event please contact Sue Gardiner at gardiner.s@me.com
or telephone 01572 717449. The closing date for this event will be Friday 27th April.

Friday 11th May, there will be a Ladies American Doubles Tournament, arrive 9.15am to start play at 9.30am, lunch will follow the tournament, £5.00 entry fee, all proceeds will go to a chosen charity. More detail to follow and on the website. To book your place on this tournament contact Sue Gardiner as above.

1st July, we are joining Medbourne village to celebrate their fete with a GREAT BRITISH TENNIS DAY at the courts. All are welcome for a day of fun filled events.

SUMMER CAMP FOR JUNIORS

The dates for the summer camp are likely to be 30/ 31st July, details to follow.

COURT ENVIRON

We are working on a better path to court one, though we are appreciating the new wall. The surface, lights and netting are on constant review; we are looking at repairing the warning light on court one and spikes round the lighting overall, as well as eliminating the car reflection through the year

BALLS

Some pointers to amend the current plethora of old balls in use; we shall provide new balls for matches, as always. Decent balls will also be available for ladies’ morning and club night. The committee will make these available. Old balls may be accessed for emergency but on the whole, for friendly play:
