MEDBOURNE TENNIS CLUB

OCTOBER NEWSLETTER 2020

PLAYING TENNIS

Now I look back at the August newsletter we can again reflect on where the nation’s tennis has come to. We have been enjoying our tennis in our fours of family and friends and the LOROS matches are forging ahead. We don’t feel that we can organise club tennis evenings or socials as we need to stay in our groups, but if anyone is short the WhatsApp groups are available that were used for the Thursday evening and Wednesday morning mix ins and it may be possible to organise a four that way. If you are not on either of these Whats App groups and wish to join then please contact either, Clare, Sue or Rob. Can we all still follow the guidelines, leaving the nets up and taking away all our rubbish home please?

The booking system is working well. We must continue to register the names of all players. Can we remind all members that guest’s can only play three times, and then apply for winter membership through Clare at a reduced rate. Our membership has grown recently, making Medbourne a very healthy, buoyant club.

We can now launch the use of the ball machine. Members need to train with either Sue or Mandy to be able to use the machine, at which time they shall get the code to the shed for the machine. This is an exciting, fun new venture and Mandy will hold a training session on Sunday 1st November. Sue will do the same on Monday 9th November. Both events are open to members, though socially distanced, and will start at 10.30 – finishing at c. 11.15.

Booking a place is required for both of these sessions:

Sunday 1st November   mandgillam@outlook.com

Monday 9th November gardiner.s@me.com

Group coaching has now started on a minor level, James is coaching juniors on a Wednesday afternoon, 4.15-5.00pm and Paul is running a group for teenagers on Mondays 7.00-8.00pm. Individual coaching is still available from all coaches.  James will start adult group coaching again as soon as he is able.

Officers for the committee will be elected in January and anyone interested should speak to the committee. You are welcome!

The Risk Assessment is on the notice board as are the usual LTA signs to follow on safety.

STAY SAFE AND CONTINUE TO ENJOY YOUR TENNIS!!
