The process and expectations outlined for the selection and role of "SLTC Official Hitters" at Sale Lawn Tennis Club (SLTC)are comprehensive and organized, focusing on the development of junior tennis members and the controlled progression of aspiring coaches. Selection Criteria for Assistant Coach “SLTC Official Hitters”

Over the past 8 years, SLTC coaching team has successfully nurtured many teenage members into accomplished Tennis leaders and coaches.
 

To sustain and organize this growth, the following criteria have been established for considering candidates as “SLTC Official Hitters”:

1. Eligibility: Junior SLTC Members interested in becoming “SLTC Official Hitters” should first discuss their aspiration with a full-time coaching team member and the Head Coach. While obtaining the LTA Level 1 certification is a prerequisite, it alone does not guarantee “SLTC Official Hitter” status.

2. Assessment:The Head Coach will evaluate the candidate’s playing and coaching capabilities. Approval for conducting "Hitting" sessions with younger juniors will be granted after careful consideration.

3. Protection: To ensure safety, both for the “SLTC Official Hitter” and juniors, sessions will be conducted under the umbrella insurance provided by the Head Coach. Additional BTCA insurance is also to be obtained by the Official Hitter as well as having a DBS and first aid.

Process for Selected “SLTC Official Hitters”

Once identified, chosen “SLTC Official Hitters” will undergo a formal induction by the Head Coach, outlining their roles, responsibilities, and the club's expectations. Their profiles, including contact information and session fees, will be displayed on the Tennis sections noticeboard. These assistant coaches will be covered under the coaching team’s insurance during club hours.

Expectations and Guidelines for “SLTC Official Hitters”

  • Attendance and Conduct: Punctuality and adherence to the coaching team's dress code are expected. They are to arrive early, set up equipment, and inform a senior coaching team member upon /prior to arrival.
  • Coaching Boundaries: “SLTC Official Hitters” will focus solely on directed training areas assigned by senior coaches. Providing unqualified coaching advice is strictly prohibited to prevent potential injuries or technique flaws.
  • Collaboration: They will collaborate closely with the senior coaching team, maintaining open communication and sharing insights when working with players who also have sessions with senior coaches.
