The perfect 10

(Photos by Margaret Bottomley)

10 members turned out for our third working party, making a grand total of 37 volunteers so far.

Yesterday saw members moving 2 tonnes of clay into place, after clearing cinders and other debris from the courts in preparation for today's activities.

Today, our Perfect 10 worked together, scarifying and reconditioning the shed side court.  Reconditioning is an important, ongoing process, replacing surfacing material lost due to play, wind and water erosion.  As a not for profit club, Park TC really do appreciate all the help our members give in maintaining the courts to keep them in good playing condition throughout the year.

And we are almost there!  Tomorrow is Day 4 of our working party programme.  Starting at 12:30, it entails:

  • Scarifying and dressing the remaining court with clay
  • Rolling the shed side court - taking care not to twist the roller at the edges of the lines

Please note - if clay sticks to the roller, cover the roller with carpet to stop it lifting the clay from the courts

Volunteers spend 10 minutes each (in relay) pulling or pushing the roller over the courts

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Notes:

  • full training will be provided
  • if you are ill, stay at home
  • stick to the times quoted (10 minutes per day)
  • if you can’t attend, there is no need to apologise, but do please tell us if you are able to make it

A big thank you to our volunteers.  You have all achieved so much in such a short space of time.
