11/03/2020 - Magic Little Grants Update...

Park TC Members were delighted to learn they had received a grant through the LocalGiving Scheme to help towards the cost of playing indoor tennis over the winter period.  Three groups benefitted from the grant, and winter sessions were subsequently held at Queens Sports Club, Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club and Rastrick Tennis Club.

Park’s Press Officer, Jake Broderick, visited the indoor court at Rastrick to find out what Park members thought of the Magic Little Grant that helped fund this activity.

Eight members had signed up to the Rastrick group, led by Cathy Winterbottom.  But the club only had one indoor court, so to overcome this, and to make sure all eight members played, Cathy ran two doubles sessions of one hour each. 

Everyone was extremely pleased to be able to take part and said how nice it was to play at such well-organised sessions.  Members thoroughly enjoyed the indoors; it gave them valuable experience on a different surface, which was advantageous for those playing in the league.  They stated the best thing about playing indoors over the winter period was that it gave them a chance to carry on doing what they loved doing best, playing tennis.  One member, who hadn’t played tennis for a while, added that the indoor sessions had helped her progress back into the game.

Even though the Rastrick court was sometimes described to be as cold as the weather outside, without assistance from the grant, players would not have been able to afford the expense of playing indoors when peak charges apply.

The indoor sessions have given our members a sense of continuity.  The sessions have helped them improve their game, and they are now really excited about playing outdoors again when the weather picks up and the season is back in action.

17/09/2019 - Another Magic Little Grant...

We are delighted to announce that we have recently been awarded another Magic Little Grant through the Localgiving scheme, and our thanks go to the Postcode Lottery for this award.

We are hoping to use this grant to part fund the hire of indoor courts during the winter season - November through to March - thereby providing our members with a positive, all year round tennis experience.  More details to follow...

• Monday to Friday - Evenings
• Saturdays and Sundays - 10am to 3pm
