Magic Little Carpets

(Pictured from left to right: John Langtry-Langton, Roger Moore and Cathy Winterbottom).

8 members visited Park TC today for our fourth working party, helping prepare the courts ready for opening.

The shed side court was successfully rolled using Cathy Winterbottom’s two-person, two-rolling, magic little carpets.  Ingenious!  This new process worked a treat, as it prevented damp clay on the court being dragged up onto the roller (see Park TC's Social Group WhatsApp demonstration video).  If you would like to subscribe to WhatsApp, please contact James Johnson on 07817 245494.

The wall side court was also scarified and dressed, leaving only the area by the wall, the area by the fence at the bottom of that court, and the area between the two courts to be reconditioned.

The next working party will be held on Friday 20th March from 2pm til 4pm and will be led by Margaret Bottomley.  Tasks will include reconditioning the remaining areas on the court, rolling the wall side court, and bringing both courts and surrounding areas up to the required standard.  Any additional tasks will be handed out on the day.

45 member visits to working parties have been recorded in 2020, which includes members who have volunteered on multiple occasions this week.  With more working parties to come tomorrow and this weekend, we are looking at a bumper number of maintenance tasks being completed in the first quarter of this year.

The time you give, whether it's only half an hour or much more, is very much appreciated by the Committee, as collectively, we are making a real difference, improving the quality of the courts and surrounding grounds at Park TC.

We do hope you will be able to join us tomorrow for yet another successful day, and we look forward to seeing you there.
