Despite a couple of short bouts of light rain trying to disrupt the Over 40’s finals on Sunday, we got them completed.  Congratulations go to all the winners, and commiserations to the runners-up in some very good matches.

The events saw two double champions.  Suzanne Oulton claimed two titles, winning the Ladies Singles, against Julie Hughes, and partnering Debbie McCormick in the Ladies Doubles, beating Linda Kenworthy and Ann Rushworth.

Steve Olley triumphed in the Men’s Singles against Chris Williams, and then joined forces with Julie Hughes to take the Mixed Doubles, beating John Langton and Suzanne Oulton.

The longest contest of the day saw Dave Barnes and Andrew McVeigh win a three setter against Glen Saunderson and Chris Williams, 7-6, 1-6, 6-2.

Thanks to Park Tennis Club for hosting the event, with support from their members, refreshments and even a car parking steward to help the day go smoothly.

Many thanks also go to Ben Hodgson and Glenys Webster who each umpired two of the finals very proficiently.

Many thanks for organising the tournaments and what a marvellous setting Park was, it was a reminder of the beach holiday I never had this year - certainly took a pair of tanned red sand legs home with me for the memories!   

Really good with the parking marshalling and the upgraded pavilion too plus refreshments, not that I had a vast amount of time to appreciate but I totally enjoyed all my tennis and the consistent surface bounce.

A fantastic event on Sunday! A great big thank you to all Park's members who came along to prepare the grounds and clubhouse ready for our visitors, or who just popped in to support the event.
