Hi Everyone
As the days get shorter and the leaves start to fall, I thought I would give you an update on how our teams did across the 2023 Summer Season.
All our teams did well and I want to start my report by thanking everyone who played for PLTC this season, everyone played with good spirit and represented our club fantastically. Special thanks to all the team captains who ensured all the rules were followed and we didn't receive any penalty points.
So how did we do…
Our 1st, 2nd and 4th Mixed teams all finished safely mid-table in their respective divisions. Our 3rd team having been unbeaten all season finished 1st and are promoted to Div 3 next year and I was delighted to collect the Div 4 trophy on behalf of all the team.
Our Men’s 1st team were runners up in Div 1 behind an in-form Neston. Our Men’s 2nd team, having only been promoted to Div 2 last year had a fantastic season and finished top and will therefore be playing alongside our 1st team in Div 1 next year, team captain Nikolai Edwards collected the division trophy at the WTL Awards presentation last week.
Also collecting individual awards at the presentation and representing PLTC were Joe Innelli, Sam Lloyd-Hercules and Nikolai Edwards who collected awards for being the top player in their divisions.
Our Men’s 3rd team finished a very creditable 3rd and our Men’s 4th team having finished 2nd in their division and went on to then beat Wallasey Manor in a thrilling playoff final to secure promotion to Div 3 next year.
PLTC did exceptionally well in the WTL Tankard/Plate competition and having tough matches against Thorndale and Neston in the round robin qualifying matches went on to beat Cheshire Oaks in the Season Finale Final on Sunday bringing the Plate Trophy home to PLTC.
Winter league starts at the end of September and this year we are entering 3 Ladies teams and 5 Men’s teams in various divisions. League matches are held on Sunday mornings so please note that there won’t be any courts available on Sunday mornings from 10am to around 1pm.
If any members who haven't previously played in our teams in the winter league but would like to be considered for one of the teams, then please email me on edwardsmccay@aol.com and I will put you in touch with the appropriate team captain.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has supported me over the summer and let's hope the winter continues to be an enjoyable and successful season for PLTC.
Best Wishes
Sue Edwards
