Courts to Remain Shut Until Further Notice

Dear All,

Fingers crossed and the first Minister of Wales will announce later that tennis will be allowed to be played again. I am sure you are all as eager as me to get back on court!

Before you rush to the courts, though, let me just re-iterate that they will have to remain shut until we are ready to open them again. As you will understand, there will be a number of restrictions when we can play again and the courts will have to be prepared accordingly. Also, courts will have to be booked online before play, there won’t be a “turn up and play” scenario for quite a while. So please wait for my next email to let you know what format play will take place in future and when the courts are back open.

In the meantime, we haven’t been quite idle. Those that have passed the club during lockdown will have noticed that the clubhouse now is freshly painted and courts have been tended to. Many thanks go to Gerard, Paul, Phil D and Jordan for carrying out this essential work, always respecting the social distancing rules!

We are also in the process of transferring our website onto the clubspark site (thanks to Jordan for doing this enormous task!). This will mean that membership applications as well as court bookings will all be reachable from the website with one easy click. And here is a reminder that court bookings can only be done by “active” members, ie members with a current paid-up membership. We will work out pro-rata membership fees as soon as we know we can open again and the system will then become live.

Looking forward to writing to you soon again!

As always, stay well and safe,

Andrea Ludtke
