Seven pairs took part in Rugby LTC's Men's Doubles Championships last weekend. The weather was perfect for tennis and all the players put on a great show. The final was one of the best matches to ever grace the courts at Webb Ellis Road. Ex-Midland Regional players Callum Spencer & Andrew Cooper teamed up to play after being out of the tennis scene for 6 years or so. It didn't take long for them to get back in the action and they came up against last years winners Liam Victoros & Sam Barnes in the final. The first 9 games all went with serve and there was a slight opening at 5-4 and 30 all for Liam and Sam to take the win. However, Callum & Andrew managed to shut that door with a couple of great points. This seemed to slightly change the momentum and Callum & Andrew managed to take the next 2 games and a 7-5 victory. It was very pleasing to see so many people at the club watching this great standard of tennis. All of the other pairs played very well on the day with a special mention for Roger Allen & Paul Thomas who came a creditable 3rd and for youngsters Ben Stuchbury & Thomas Barnes who came a close 4th.
