About us

The Club originated on a single court, known as Manor House Tennis Club, at the former council offices. It relocated to to the Wootton Bassett Sports Association’s Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, Rylands Way, in the 1970’s. There, the single court evolved into a floodlit, four-court facility.
As of 22nd August 2015 we are an eight-court facility at the 'new' Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, just outside the town, on the north-east side of the B4042 Brinkworth Road, SN4 8DS. This is a new postcode so beware of satnav directions.
The eight all-weather courts are floodlit, so tennis can be played all year. Club Members have use of the facilities of Royal Wootton Bassett Sports Association - changing rooms with showers, spacious bar and function room.
Members inaugurated these courts on the afternoon of Saturday, 22nd August 2015.

Fun Tennis
The Club provides a full programme of tennis, catering for all standards. For adult members there are two evening Club Sessions per week, for social tennis, on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year, a number of fun tournaments at weekends and Bank Holidays or on Wednesday evenings, and Closed Championships during June/July.

League Tennis
The club is a long-standing member of the Swindon and District League and during the summer season we compete three evenings a week with Mixed, Ladies’ and Men’s teams. We enter teams at all levels to give all members the opportunity of competitive tennis. In addition, we enter teams in the local Mixed Winter League. Juniors have the opportunity to play in the National Junior Leagues and may be invited to play in Senior teams.

Tennismark+
The club has achieved the highest tier of 'best practice' accreditation endorsed by Sport England, and we are always looking to improve.  Your feedback is important to us, in person or via the addresses on our 'Contacts' page.

Some our policies can be viewed here. In addition, paper copies of all of our policies are held in the white ‘Policies and Procedures’ folder inside our courtside cabin (in the top drawer of the units, nearest the window). A smaller selection of policies is on the noticeboard on the back wall of the cabin.
