Notes from the coach

The tennis leader’s course is aimed at 13 years plus. The content is suitable for older juniors just starting out on the tennis career pathway, right through to adult volunteers looking to support their local coach, referee or club official. A tennis leader is someone who is able to support the coaches with the day to day running of the tennis venue and tennis programme. The course is seen as the first recognised step on the LTA coaching pathway, with individuals gaining valuable skills that can be transferred into other industries. Adults see it as a way of getting some informal training around organising competitions or taking on a role on as a volunteer at the venue. Young Leaders may enjoy helping out at mini-tennis competitions or camps. After this initial session there are several practical volunteering modules to complete. The qualification is then awarded after all volunteering modules have been completed. Ideally the modules are completed by March 2020.
