Covid-19 Effect Upon Club Activities

Covid-19 Effect Upon Club Activities:

In order to prevent spread of Covid-19  the STC Clubhouse will be closed with immediate effect. You are therefore required not to use the Clubhouse until further notice. Clubhouse closure includes not being able to access floodlight meters. STC seek the cooperation of its Members in order to avoid the expense and inconvenience of changing locks.

Courts will remain available for use by STC Members only, regretfully the club is no longer able to accept visitors. Availability of courts will remain under regular review.

Members using the courts are required to follow these guidelines:

  • Players must book a court in advance using the online booking system.  Absolutely no turning up and playing without an advance booking. Members who do not use the online booking system may contact a Committee Member in advance who will book a court on their behalf.
  • Players should wash hands before and after using the entry touch keypad to access the courts.
  • Bring your own hand gel (alcohol) or soap and towel with you. Players should take empty gel containers and used wipes home with them.
  • There is an outside tap situated towards the back of the Clubhouse accessed via the picket gate adjacent to the veranda.  Here you can wash your hands with running water using your own soap.
  • Players should wash their hands before and after tennis sessions.
  • Consider wearing light disposable gloves when playing and while handling tennis balls and equipment. Gloves to be disposed of at home.
  • Wipe down rackets, do not share rackets.
  • Players are required to provide their own tennis balls during this period. It is more important than ever that only balls used on one court are handled by players on that court.  Use a maximum of 3 balls per court in use at any time, and all balls returned to that court without sharing.
  • Do not shake hands after playing tennis.
  • Do not congregate after playing. Either adhere to government / NHS social separation guidelines or vacate the facility.

All LTA and Club events and competitions are suspended until further notice.

These include :

LTA Summer League competition and practice sessions, all non-club member coaching, STC Open Days, Tennis for Kids, Club Summer Knockout Tournament, all American Tournaments, John Riley Tournament.

As you may be aware, STC have been allocated a record 22 Wimbledon tickets this year, thanks to the high number of Members ‘opting-in’.  The annual Wimbledon Draw will take place under the direction of Dave Attwood and Ruth Sarafian. Further details will be posted on the website soon.

Membership Renewals:

Thank you to all Members who have so far renewed their membership for the 2020-21 club year. While the Management Committee is comprised of unpaid volunteers, the Club incurs a number of expenses that need to be met. The Club recognises it has the benefit of having a large number of loyal and dedicated members who we urge to renew their annual membership packages.

The effects of Covid-19 are changing at a very fast pace.  It may be necessary to close all STC facilities in the near future if directed by government and, or the LTA. STC will endeavour to keep you all informed via its website.
