Notes from the coach

This is a match play session for those aged 8-9 years old. The aim of the session to get our young juniors well practised in playing matches against kids their own age. Those that attend should already be able to serve and rally. Feedback will be more based on tactics and effective patterns of play, although this feedback will be limited to after matches, rather than during, so players begin to apply their own tactics on court. Matches will be played on mini orange courts and will be best of three tie breaks up to 7. This is in line with the LTA's guidelines. This session usually works well as a supplement to another session so juniors can still work on the technical aspects of their game. Matches will all be submitted to the LTA to go towards player's LTA mini tennis ratings. Everyone who signs up should obtain British Membership, which will get you a rating. This is free.
