Return of serve -

Last week do the 8 week Academy sessions . We’ll be working on return of serves .

1st serve return . Usually return deep and at the servers feet. Weak or second serves build cross court or down the line .

ALERT READY POSITION -

vital to be alert and low so ready to spring .

SPLIT STEP before their contact point with the landing just after to help a quick first step .

QUICK FIRST STEP

Turn the nearest foot to the ball to help the unit turn and ideally to transfer the body weight from back to front foot and to load with the legs .

CONTACT INFRONT

Ideally cutting the corner of wide balls and getting the ball infront for a optimum connection, 1st serve return may have a compact take back to ensure a early contact point , weaker servers you have more time to build a loop in the backswing

FOLLOW THROUGHAND RECOVER FOR YOUR NEXT SHOT

Vital to follow through online of the target in which the head should be still on contact and just after . After you finish the swing recover to the middle and get ready for the next shot .

DRILL 1

Server stands on the service line and hits their 1st serve . This will test the returners reactions

DRILL 2

Shot where are are hitting the rerun On a weaker serve . Partner feeds a weak serve then shout before the bounce of the return cross court or down the line . Early decision making is key .
