St John's receives LTA Kent Club of the Year award

St John's received the LTA Kent Club of the Year Award in the category 1–4 courts in a virtual ceremony on 21 January. Many members attended the ceremony on zoom and in fact we were probably the club with the most members attending – 27 at one point. Laura Collins received the award on behalf of the whole membership. But she thanked some members in particular.
Stephen Elliott, Chairman of the grasscourt subcommittee, for his tireless commitment and getting us all motivated; Simon Bishop and his volunteer group who all worked hard on the build up to the grass courts opening in 2020; and  those who continued to work on the grass courts throughout the summer and continued to prepare them into the autumn, ready for for 2021.  Also Sandy Levine for putting the nomination form together along with Stephen and Helen Dye. And finally Sam Teubler for driving up last Wednesday to collect the Award so we had it on the night.

The great thing about the ceremony on Thursday was that when the picture came up of St John's Tennis Club, it was of our volunteers, mowing, digging and watering.
