Betty Jenkins, coach for many years at St John's Tennis Club, passed away on 26th February 2019. It is believed that Betty first joined the club in 1939 as she was presented with a clock in 1989, commemorating 50 years membership of the club. Betty first won the singles title at the club in 1941 (age 19), and and her last singles win was in 1971. However she continued to play and often win the doubles title, with various partners including Daphne Cooper, Audrey Seymour and her daughter Linda Jenkins. Betty will be fondly remembered by all who knew her at the tennis club and by all the now grown up juniors whom she coached.
