What a fantastic evening it was on Saturday 9 November! On arrival we were greeted with a glass of bubbly, which was a lovely touch to remind us that we were celebrating 50 years of Swanmore Lawn Tennis Club!

The room was decorated with balloons and banners with tables set out nicely, allowing us all to socialise with our Swanmore allies. Once we were all settled and had a chance to catch up, the band introduced itself and encouraged everyone up onto the floor to create the longest chain of slightly apprehensive participants, all wondering what was coming next!

Absolutely no need to be worried as the dancing involved lots of skipping, ‘Do Si Do’ ing and spinning our partners around like kids in the school playground! Like true tennis players, we all took to task, and in fact the ‘Caller’ was a little taken back by the exuberance and participation of us all.

After getting very hot and sweaty, we stopped for a light supper of Chilli, Pasta Bake and Desserts which was brilliantly organised by the Swanmore Committee.

More dancing and merriness followed. A fun and enjoyable evening all round which provided a great chance to meet and chat with other Swanmore members, and to burn some calories at the same time!

Special thanks to all of the Swanmore Committee for their behind-the-scenes organisation in putting together such a great event, but particularly to Sam, Mandy W ,Yvonne and Sally who had been working hard all day to provide amazing food, organised decorations and ensured everything ran smoothly on the evening. Also thanks to all of the other volunteers who helped with the endless washing up and clearing of the room at the end.
