Graham Beynon Ex Chairman STSC 92-96 (SLTSRC)
We remember Graham Beynon as a stalwart of the Tennis and Squash club as well as a very good tennis and squash player.
Generous and popular on court and you could take his word for anything. He continued playing into retirement until ill health took hold.
As Chairman he was very inclusive and always sought peoples opinions and views and more importantly acted upon them. A former Royal Marine, as Chairman he helped the Club get the electrical power supply from the main road up to the tennis courts to provide for the lighting and the pumps for the sprinkler system.
Our thoughts are with his family.
Harriet Davies
Harriet was initially a member of the Ladies squash team in the days when we had 2 ladies teams in the S Wales Ladies league! She moved into tennis and played as regularly as she could with a large circle of friends, as seen by the tributes that flowed on the club social media platforms . She continued to amuse all players with her Glaswegian humour and doggedness throughout her long battle with ill health, when she always bounced back in style. Until the last time. Rest in Peace.

Tennis Ball recycling.
Thank you to everyone for recycling all the tennis balls. FYI the boxes are under the balcony by the blackboard. A gentle plea with winter approaching please only add dry balls, wet balls will not be able to be recycled and will ruin dry balls in the boxes.
Unfortunately we cannot recycle the plastic or metal containers for the balls. Please empty your dry balls into the boxes. You can take your tubes home and recycle the plastic ones in the pink bags and metal ones in green bags. I have checked with Swansea council and they said they accept them. This would be really appreciated and help me alot. Thank you for your continued support. We receive £60 for two bags(500 balls) and prevents them going to landfill. Bernie Devonald
Tennis Ball machine is back in action - thanks to Peter King for sorting.
Squash:
Court closures for refurbishment please see booking form for details of court availability.
Annual Club Squash Tournament - details to follow.
Racketball - A Box Ladder will commence after the New Year .
School Visit - Grange & Llanrhidian Primaries have both completed a 6 weeks squash skills course that culminated in an intensive final visit to the club. Pupils were coached on a ‘real’ court and their enthusiasm was infectious (and noisy). They were model pupils and we hope to see more of them next season.
Billie Jean King Cup finals.
Earlier this month 2 of our members, Michaela and Helen visited Malaga for the Billie Jean King Cup finals. Both Czech and Great Britain had reached the finals with GB against Germany in the first round, and the Czech Republic up against the strong Polish side in the quarter finals
Accompanying the British squad was our very own Mimi Xu who had a wonderful opportunity to experience the event as well as practising with the best players in the UK
Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter played amazing tennis beating Canada to reach the semi finals where they narrowly lost to the Slovakian team
Steve Noot, and others competed in the Welsh Squash Masters Open last weekend - preparing for the Welsh Squash Maters Closed to be held at the club in January.
A Members area is now established on the website for members only information.
