Re-surfacing of courts 1-3

Thank you again to all of you who replied to the survey asking for your view on the preferred surface for courts 1-3. The result was an overwhelming preference for the new clay surface, similar to that recently installed at Penarth Windsor - on which the recent ladies 1st team match was played (see photo wall)

We have requested an installation date of w/c 23rd August. The work is planned to take around a week to complete, although we are allowing a few extra days in case of inclement weather. During this week, there will be no coaching and possibly no club nights so there will be courts available for members to book at all times of day.

We will update you nearer the time to confirm the dates and arrangements for car parking during the period of the work. For further information please contact Jeff Gleave on jeffreygleave2007@tiscali.co.uk

Refurbishment of Courts 7-9

We met with the University and Council on the 10th June, to discuss plans for increasing our capacity. We were hoping for either a contribution to the cost, or an agreement that they would spend a small amount of money in repainting the University courts. Unfortunately, neither were possible.

We will therefore plan to refurbish courts 7-9 ourselves, as soon as we have sufficient funds. This will be as a result of us increasing our membership, supplemented by fundraising activities, which Ellinore has kindly agreed to co-ordinate. If you have any ideas or are willing to help run events please contact Ellinore on elchisel@gmail.com

Saturday Morning Bar Opening

Saturday morning opening is growing in popularity, helped by the weather, with customers for teas, coffee, and delicious bacon baps, whilst sitting watching their children in ballet, squash and tennis lessons.

Squash Courts - Installation of LED Lighting

We are planning to install new squash court lighting during the middle of next month. We will also take the opportunity, as we have the scaffolding, to carry out some routine maintenance. There will be limited court availability while the work is taking place, which should only take 2 weeks but the aim is to keep at least 2 courts open at all time. More information will be issued where the dates have been agreed. For further information contact Howard on howard.2.jones@btinternet.com

Thursday Gentlemen's and Team Night

Thursday evening sessions are organised by Jon Jenkins and our first team captain Nick Rees. We have a large community building up so please do feel free to come along from 6pm if you're interested in team play, doubles tactics / practice or just brushing up on play ready for box league and ladder games. We will be saying goodbye to a few of our students shortly who have played hugely positive role and the club would like to wish them well and thank them for their contribution to our team success

Works Traffic in Access Road during the Hockey Pitch Refurbishment

The university are replacing their hockey pitches and have notified us that there will be works traffic in the access road between 12th July and 27th August
