Ramsey Tennis Club hosted the 2023 LTA grade 4 Mooragh Junior Open at the Mooragh Park courts from 29th July-5th August. Due to several players being away on holiday, entries were not as high as hoped, but it was good to see new faces taking part in their first tournament.

The Red/Orange/Green Ball events were run as Girls/Boys together, the U18 event was split into a Girls and Boys competition.

There were 5 entries in the U8 Red Ball event with Ivan Yordanov winning all 4 of his matches, runner up with 3 wins was Martin Petrov.

In the U9 event Ivan again was undefeated winning all 4 of his matches with Tommie Manuja taking the runners up spot with 3 wins.

The U10 Green Ball was won by Hugo Hetherington with Olly Cunningham as runner up.

The Boys U14 event had only 3 entries but each match was close with some good rallies between the 3 boys George Salter, Aditya Varshney and Oliver Dowty.  George won both of his matches 6-4 against Oliver and Aditya. The runner up was Aditya who beat Oliver 6-2.

In the girls U 18 event we had 6 entries played as 2 round robins, in Group A Ayessa Czusaine Gilbang went through as the winner with Abigail Cowell as runner up. Group B saw Sophie Christian top the group with Libby Moore as runner up. In the S/F Sophie bt Abigail 4-3 and Libby bt Ayessa 4-1. The final was played as the best of 3 short sets with Libby coming out as the winner 4-2 1-4 10-6 in a very close contest. Ayessa finished in third place after defeating Abigail 4-2.
