There are many reasons to play tennis. You can start playing at any age and you can take it as far as you want to. We at T2O Tennis introduce players from as young as 2 years old through our Teddy Tennis programme, then we follow the LTA Mini-tennis programme once a child goes to school. During this stage, the player can start competitng and many more opportunities open up.
The player needs to decide what type of player they want to be. They need to think about why they play tennis and what they want out of the sport. It's a unique sport in that you can play it all your life. Just choose which Tennis Pathway suits you best, but most of all, enjoy your journey along your chosen pathway.
1: Learning a Skill whilst having fun
You can learn to play tennis at any age. We have beginner lessons for players from 2 years old to 99 years young!
The result: I can play tennis!
2: Social Player
You've learnt to play, and you love it. You enjoy seeing your friends at tennis and learning and playing together. It's a good social and you get some exercise at the same time!
The result: I love playing tennis with my friends and meeting new people!
3: Club Player
You like to play matches with and against your friends. You may win, you may lose, that's half the fun, but it gives you good reason to play (and bragging rights).
The result: I love competing in a friendly environment!
4: Officiate
You see tennis as a potential career opportunity. Maybe you'll volunteer to help at an event, mabybe you'll become an umpire, or perhaps a coach?
The result: I want to work in tennis!
5: Player Development
You love the sport and realise you've got some great potential! Maybe you should take it further. How far can you go? Play for your County, play in national or maybe international tournaments.
The result: I want to win Wimbledon!
Choose the right path for you!
There is a path for everyone, and it is really important to match your lesson with the path you choose. You won't have much fun as a Social Player playing in a Player Development lesson, and vice versa! Speak to me or any member of the T2O Tennis Team in case you are unsure of which lesson is right for you or for your young player.
