For the first match of the season, we played against Wadebridge away. It wasn’t bad weather for the first match with the sun shining but the wind was a bit strong but luckily it did die down through the match. The teams for this match were Sonny and Mark as the A team and Oliver and Luke as the B team.

Sonny and Mark had a very close first set with games being even for most of the match but unfortunately lost in the tie break. However, in the next set they managed to break through and win the second set 6-3, when it came to the 10-point tie break for the third set they kept on top of the opposition and managed to close it out without too much trouble to win 10-5. In their second match they kept the momentum going to nicely wrap up both sets well, 6-2 and 6-3.

Luke and Oliver had a similar experience as Sonny and Mark in their first game with the first set being close, but they managed to win it 6-4 but lost the momentum in the second set and quickly lost 6-2. However, in the 10-point tie break they focused again and managed to win the tie break 10-4. In the second match they managed to keep the momentum going for a quick win of 6-1 and 6-2.

The final score was 10-2 to Veryan which is a good start to the season and hopefully we can keep the results coming in.
