The weather for the third match of season was a bit cloudy and a bit muggy but had a little bit of mizzle at the start of the warmup but that cleared quickly and then we had lovely weather for the rest of the evening.
The team for this match was Luke, Sonny, Chris and Nick, with Luke and Sonny as the A pair and Chris and Nick as the B pair. Luke and Sonny had a long first match as they lost the first set 6-0 but fought back in the second set to win 7-5 taking it to a 10-point tie break which they won 16-14. It was a hard long match, but they finally managed to win it after an hour and fifteen minutes. They managed to win their other game a bit easier winning it 6-3, 6-2. It was another good fun match with many interesting points including one where Luke fell over but still managed to keep the rally going but sadly, they did lose that point.
Nick and Chris managed to win their first match after a slow long first set to get into the rhythm, which they won 7-5 but got the second set much easier winning it 6-2. In their second match Launceston’s A pairs pace made it hard for them to begin with as they lost the first set 6-2 but got the hang of it and fought back valiantly to take the second set to a 7-point tie break but sadly fair short at the end losing the second set 7-6.
The result was 8-3 to Veryan which is another good victory and moving us up to 3rd place in the league, as usual we held some lovely food fir everyone that went down well and even though Launceston couldn’t stay for long it was still a nice evening with some very enjoyable tennis.
