HAPPY CHRISTMAS

THE COMMITTEE WISH ALL MEMBERS, THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Dear Members

I am writing to you all to wish you keep safe and well over Christmas and New Year. Last week your new committee met for the first time and had a productive and forthcoming meeting. I would like to share with you some of the items discussed.

• Hard Court Resurfacing: A decision by the full committee was made that the 25 year old hard courts should be re surfaced sooner rather than later with the aim for work to take place over the summer months. The sub committee has met 3 companies with approximate costings submitted. The sub committee has been tasked to visit and play at clubs that have different surfaces in order to fully understand the pros and cons of fast draining surfaces either artificial clay or artificial grass. They will report to the main committee which will then consult with the members. The aim is to have 2 modern fast draining hard courts by the end of the grass court season.

• Electronic membership: A decision was made to introduce a paperless, electronic system for membership in April next year. Anyone without an email will be designated a member who will help you with this registration.

• Sub Committees: A decision was made to set up a number of sub committees to help organize all aspects of running the club from grounds, bar & catering to marketing/sponsorship and membership management/engagement. A full list will be published in the New Year and we will be asking members who are able to join sub committees if they wish to help and be involved. We will also draw up a "register of interest" with members expertise which the club could draw on when required.

I am looking forward to next year and in particular the time when a normal visit to Archery Square can take place to meet and play with friends, family and members with the bar open, the tea bell ringing, the lines painted the sun on our backs and the sound of ball against mallet and racquet . In the meantime take care until we meet again.

Best wishes

Peter Tullo Chair
