About us

The Club originated on a single court, known as Manor House Tennis Club, at the former council offices. It relocated to to the Wootton Bassett Sports Association’s Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, Rylands Way, in the 1970’s. There, the single court evolved into a floodlit, four-court facility.
As of 22nd August 2015 we are an eight-court facility at the 'new' Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, just outside the town, on the north-east side of the B4042 Brinkworth Road, SN4 8DS. This is a new postcode so beware of satnav directions.
The eight all-weather courts are floodlit, so tennis can be played all year. Club Members have use of the brand new facilities of the Sports Association - changing rooms with showers and spacious bar and function room.
Members inaugurated our new courts on the afternoon of Saturday, 22nd August 2015.

Fun Tennis
The Club provides a full programme of tennis, catering for all standards. There are two evening Club Sessions per week for social tennis on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year, a number of fun tournaments at weekends and bank holidays or on Wednesday evenings, and Closed Championships during June/July. In March or October we occasionally hire the indoor courts at the Delta Centre in Swindon, on a Saturday night, for a social tennis event.

League Tennis
The club is a long-standing member of the Swindon and District League and during the summer season we compete three evenings a week with Mixed, Ladies’ and Men’s teams. We enter teams at all levels to give all members the opportunity of competitive tennis. In addition, we enter teams in the local Mixed Winter League. Juniors have the opportunity to play in the National Junior Leagues and may be invited to play in Senior teams.

Tennismark+
An LTA registered club, we have TENNISMARK+ accreditation, and are in the process of updating our policy documents for access through this page.

Some policies can be viewed here. Up-to-date paper copies are held in the white ‘Policies and Procedures’ folder in our courtside cabin (in the top drawer of the units, nearest the window). There is also a selection of policies on the noticeboard.
