Here is the latest news on the work to finish our new site:

HIGHWAY WORK

Problems with our main contractor,  coupled with delays awaiting utility providers has resulted in the frustratingly slow progress of the highways works from Sept to Nov. In Dec we took on direct management of the works, and pleasingly we managed to get the entrance section of road works completed prior to Xmas.

We will continue to manage the works directly, with Crapper and Sons as the contractors on the works, through to completion. Works to complete are:

- Footpath/cycleway, together with drainage, up to the bus stop adjacent to the Coped Hall roundabout

- Footpath on RWB side of the carriageway, from bus stop to the toucan crossing

- Toucan crossing, to be installed just the Coped Hall side of the Jubilee Lake entrance

- High friction surfacing to promote speed reduction

- Carriageway surfacing as relevant

- Signage and street lighting

- Connection to the foul water rising main, which is adjacent to the Esso garage on the Swindon side of the Coped Hall roundabout

As you can see, these are significant works, all funded by RWBSA, that will take 10-12 weeks to complete, and that will inevitably require traffic light control to ensure safety of work force and road users alike. I can assure you we will be doing all we can to drive completion at the earliest opportunity, and minimise impact to road users.

OTHER WORKS

We are also now managing these direct, and engaging with a number of contractors to see the various elements through to completion. Works to complete are:

- Snagging on the building, and the mechanical and electrical elements

- Connection of surface water and foul water drainage to off site drainage, with corresponding re-arrangement of soil bunds around/behind the AGP

- Landscaping, cricket nets, grassgrid surface for emergency vehicle acess to youth pitches, base for cricket players cover for 2nd square

- Additional gate to Tennis Courts

- Provision of all drawings, manuals, warranties, and certificates

- Financial reconciliation with Facilitas, who remain our main contractor, and who are cooperating fully in the approach we are now taking to completion
