Return of Club Nights
Wed, 22 Jul 2020 00:00
Following new guidelines set out by the LTA for Tennis Clubs to start introducing club sessions we will trial two club sessions on Sunday 26 July 10 - 12 and Tuesday 28 July 6-8pm and then re-evaluate the processes for subsequent Sunday and Tuesday sessions thereafter.
The Thursday club session will start as soon as we feel confident in the process and the Wednesday and Friday morning sessions will start again in September.
To make it as safe as possible, with no-one standing around, there will be 12 available places for each of the two sessions . Please email Deborah Osborne [email protected] if you would like to join in one of these sessions stating which session(s) you would be available for. However, you may only be able to play in one of the sessions depending on demand. A reserve list will be kept just in case anyone has to drop out at the last minute.
Please contact Deborah asap to book your place but at the latest by 6pm the evening before the session.
It will be essential for all players to be present at the beginning of the session to make for smooth running. The players on each court will play for 20 minutes, then together with the person you are partnering you will move in a clockwise direction to either the other side of the net or the next court. You will then split from your partner and play with one of the new pair on your court. You will play games with a sudden death deuce for the twenty minutes. There will be a committee member supervising each session who will have organised the initial pairings prior to the start of the evening's play.
There will be 12 new Club tennis balls to use for each session and they will inevitably be handled by all 12 participants. No-one should bring their own balls and please bring as little as possible onto the courts with you ie racket, bottled drinking water and towel.
The club will provide hand sanitiser for each court for Club Sessions.
We have been advised to keep a record of the names of all the players at club sessions for at least 21 DAYS so as to enable us to notify everyone concerned should someone develop Covid-19 symptoms subsequent to playing.
Enjoy the return to Club Nights!
