The Welsh Open at PLTC

The club was the original host of the prestigious Welsh Tennis Championships. This was a major open grass court tournament that took place prior to Wimbledon. It was held at the club in the years 1886–89, 1893-95 and 1901-09. After 1909 the tournament moved to Newport Athletic club where it remained until it was last played in 1974.
