Adult Coaching

Adult Coaching:

AFTennis Adult coaching courses are delivered by experienced LTA coaches. We offer Beginner, Improver, Intermediate & Advanced courses. Non-members to The Bourne Club may attend one course before joining the Club. Cardio Tennis & Pay & Play Adult Drills are open to non-members.

Whether you’ve always wanted to learn to play, or just need help with those pesky backhands, our experienced coaches will guide you every step of the way!

We hit the court with our Director of Tennis, Alex Fricker, who outlines what you can expect from each course:

BEGINNERS:

Who is the course for?

This group is for adults who are new to the game or haven’t played for a period of time.

What can participants expect?

This course covers all the basic strokes of tennis, working on the technique and drills to incorporate them. Participants will also go through the basic rules and tactics of the game.

What could participants achieve by attending the course?

By the end of the course all those who attend should have an understanding of the technique of forehands, backhands, volleys, serves and smashes, and be able to play a competitive game.

What will participants take away from the course?

The course will aim to teach all participants how to get their shots into the court on a regular basis, rally and to have the ability to place their shots. They will learn how to score in a match situation and where they should position themselves on the court.

IMPROVERS:

Who is the course for?

The Improvers course is for adults who play on a regular basis, or who have become too advanced for the beginners course.

What can participants expect?

Each week will focus on a specific stroke, using drills to improve the consistency and placement of that stroke.

What could participants achieve by attending the course?

The aim of the course is not only to add more consistency to the players game, but to add different aspects to it by using different techniques and tactics.

What will participants take away from the course?

The course will aim to add more to each players game. Emphasis will be on adding more variety to the strokes by implementing spin and concentrating on the tactical side of the game, as well as exploiting opponent’s weaknesses and utilising each players strengths.

LADIES DYNAMIC DOUBLES INTERMEDIATE & ABOVE:

Who is the course for?

Ladies of an intermediate/advanced level.

What can participants expect?

The course will cover tactics , games and drills for tactical applications, matchplay simulation and doubles formations. The course does not look at the technical side of the players but how to get to move, think and play as a team to maximise their individual abilities. Each of the elements are covered through drills and practical applications.
