Outdoor Courts Reopen

I am delighted to confirm that following consultation with the LTA and the Club, the Government has authorised the re-opening of outdoor tennis courts.

Members are now permitted to use the outdoor courts from Saturday 23rd May, subject to strict compliance with the following LTA rules:

1) All courts must be booked there is a booking system on the website that members can access once they have logged in. You must book your court before going to the club. Coaching has priority on No1 court. Please book No2 and No3 courts first. No1 court bookings may be moved to an alternative court if necessary.

2) 15 minutes between bookings the booking slots are 75 minutes each. This is to allow a 15-minute changeover for departing players to leave the club before the next players arrive. You must stop play after 60 minutes.

3) Staggered start times there is a 5-minute staggered start (and finish) time for each court.

  1. No1 court – your start time = exact booking time.
  2. No3 court – your start time = booking time + 10mins
  3. No2 court – your start time = booking time + 5mins

4) 2 players per court - only two players per court are permitted, unless additional players are from one household. No spectators are allowed, except for one parent if they are supervising their child.

5) Do not change ends during play

6) Maintain 2m distance at all times

  1. do not shake hands
  2. do not leave the court together
  3. Wait behind distance markings where indicated

7) Wash it, catch it, bin it – hand gel is provided at each court

8) Use your own equipment do not touch equipment, including balls, belonging to other members – Please mark your own balls with your initials

9) Do not attend the club in any of the following circumstances:

  1. If you have any symptoms of Coronavirus or are not feeling well
  2. If you or any of your household are self-isolating
  3. If you are in a vulnerable category

10) Individual coaching resumes in accordance with LTA guidance. Please contact Ian to arrange sessions.

11) The Junior Programme and Club sessions remain suspended but reviewed weekly.

12) The Indoor Court remains closed. Use of indoor facilities remains prohibited by the Government.

Please note that the decision to reopen tennis is under constant review by the Government and the Club and may be reversed if there is poor compliance with these restrictions or an increase in cases.
