Following a fantastic week of competitive tennis, the 2024 IoM Tennis Championships were held at Albany LTC on Saturday 31 August. 

The winners of the primary draws were as follows:

MENS SINGLES:      Orry Farnworth  bt  Sean Drewry  6-4  6-0

LADIES SINGLES:   Charlotte Clarke  bt  Sarah Long  6-0  6-2

MENS DOUBLES:    Sean Drewry + Orry Farnworth  bt  Kevin Drewry + Jonathan Gower-Jackson  6-0  6-0

LADIES DOUBLES: Charlotte Clarke + Sarah Long  bt  Aailish Kelly + Anna Kirk  (withdrawn)

MIXED DOUBLES:  Orry Farnworth + Charlotte Clarke  bt  Sean Drewry + Anna Kirk   6-2  6-2

Congratulations to all the winners - all previous members of Albany LTC's junior coaching programme!

Thanks to Andy Farnworth, Chris Butler and Paul Jarvis from the LTA for their oversight of the competiton and all the Albany Committee for their time assisting with the club house, refreshments and ensuring the club looked its best.

With the trophies presented by the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, the winners then had a special treat of meeting ex-Albany junior and now world #101, Billy Harris (pictured), who was over for a short family trip to the Isle of Man.

Billy then stepped onto court after the presentations to have a short hit and some words of encouragement with 16-year old singles winner, Orry.   An incredible experience for him and our thanks to Billy for his generous time.  He's even coming back to help coach some of our juniors on Monday before departing to take part in the Davis Cup!
