The IOM Lawn Tennis Association Summer Doubles League program has now started after the recent long break.

The first 2 match results are as follows:

Women's Divs 1&2: Castletown B lost to Castletown A by 0 rubbers to 4: Sarah Goldie/Karen Murphy lost to Nicola Skillicorn/Kirree Ronan 2/6; Amanda Munro/Jenny Foy lost to Lucy Kerr/Justine Torry 1/6; Goldie/Murphy lost to Kerr/Torry 2/6 0/6; Munro/Foy lost to Skillicorn/Ronan 2/6 2/6.

Men's Divs 1 & 2: Castletown B lost to Albany A by 0 rubbers to 4: Jonny Weir/Peter De~Carte lost to Tim Davies/Garreth Roome 5/7; Chris Butler/Peter Skelton lost to Peter Dunworth/Alastair Montgomerie 1/6; Weir/De~Carte lost to Dunworth/Montgomerie 2/6 2/6; Butler/Skelton lost to Davies/Roome 1/6 1/6.

League Details:

Douglas Lawn Tennis Club has entered 6 teams: 4 in the Men's and 2 in the Women's; Castletown has 5 teams: 3 Men's and 2 Women's; Albany 4: 3 Men's and 1 Women's: Ramsey 3: 2 Men's and 1 Women's; and the field is completed with another entry in the Men's from Port Erin.

The Men's League consists of 4 Divisions, but will run on a 'Superleague' basis with the teams nominally in Divisions 1 and 2 all playing each other, and similarly for Men's Divisions 3 and 4. In the same way, the Women's League consists of 2 Divisions, also all playing each other in a Superleague.

In each match, the first pair of each team plays a single set against the opposing second pair, and then the first pairs play a best of 3 sets match against each other, and similarly the second pairs. In these 3 set matches, the third set, if needed, is a Championship Tie-Break. The winner is the team with the most rubbers, or if rubbers are equal, the most sets, or if sets are equal, the most games. If still all equal, the result of the match between the first pairs is the decider.
