She Rallies with local Guides Group

She Rallies has been launched by the Lawn Tennis Association in a bid to get more girls playing, and more women coaching tennis. She Rallies is championed by Judy Murray, who formally opened the newly refurbished Courts in October last year.

Donna Grieve and Alison Smith, who volunteer at the Annan Seaforth Tennis Club have completed the LTAShe Rallies training and  Donna  recently organised and delivered a session with the Annan Girl Guides.

Donna said “The girls had a lot of fun. It’s great to see young people trying something new and realising they are actually enjoying themselves. I hope it has encouraged them to give tennis a go!”

Elaine Lamont who is a volunteer Development Officer added ” We know physical activity levels often drop when girls reach their teens but finding a  sport or activity that is fun can make all the difference. We have a range of programmes for young people at the Club and with Wimbledon just around the corner now is a great time to come and try tennis!”

She Rallies has been created to strengthen and grow the female workforce with the ultimate goal of attracting and retaining more women and girls in tennis. In its first year, the programme is focusing on a group of 26 regional female ambassadors who are working closely with Judy Murray. The She Rallies ambassadors will then focus on training up groups of women (activators) who will go on to deliver sessions in their local area
