Saul Abbiss
Hi I am Saul Abbiss and I have been the head coach at Attenborough Tennis Academy since July 2017.
Playing Experience:
I have been playing tennis since the age of 4 years. Which was when I started tennis lessons at Attenborough LTC with then coach Jan Burnett. I have enjoyed many highs during my playing career both individually and as part of various teams.
I represented my county (Nottinghamshire) from a young age up until under 18 level. In more recent years while completing my degree in Sport and Exercise Science, I competed for Leeds Beckett University. While representing Leeds Beckett University I reached two BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) cup finals winning 1 and acheived back to back promotions in the leagues. I also regularly compete in the Attenborough Mens and Mixed 1st teams.
Coaching Experience:
I am a level 3 LTA Qualified and Accredited+ tennis coach. I have been coaching tennis since September 2012 and have worked with players of all ages and abilities including several county tennis players. I continue to regularly attend CPD courses to further develop my coaching ability.
Coaching Philosophy:
My aim is to encourage as many people as possible to pick up a tennis racket and enjoy playing tennis with their friends and family. I encourage all the players in my coaching sessions to arrange to play away from the coaching sessions as much as possible to aid their development and to maximise potential. I feel it is of vital importance for young tennis players to take responsibility for their own development and not rely on a tennis coach to lead practice.
I hope to encourage you to participate in tennis at Attenborough LTC, if you would like any information about any of our group sessions, individual lessons or Attenborough tennis club please do not hesitate to contact me by email (coaching@attenboroughtennis.org.uk) or phone (07944460488).
