Playing under lockdown

Update 28/05/2021

Following recent government announcements, updated guidelines from the LTA and agreements with the Parish Council we are now able to relax even more of the restrictions on playing tennis:

Both singles play and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside your household on both courts, provided players observe 2 metres social distancing.

The players on each court are considered two separate social groups and should not physically interact

A maximum of 8 people are allowed within the court fencing at any one time.

Our coaches will be available for individual coaching sessions or group sessions for up to 12 people (including the coach). Coaching will be limited to a maximum of 2 hours per day per coach.

Members will still have to book their playing sessions (ensure you are logged into ClubSpark using the account you used when registering with the club then click Booking above).

The recreation ground car park is now fully open and there is plenty of room for tennis club members to park.

The gate is locked so please bring appropriate sanitiser / wet-wipes to sanitise the lock / gate handle before and after use.   Please remember to lock the courts after your game and safeguard the code to prevent unauthorised access.

Please follow these guidelines, as we wish to keep the courts open for play.

BTC – guidance for safe play

Stay up to date

Ensure you have checked the latest version of the LTA’s guidelines for tennis players on the LTA website (https://www.lta.org.uk/globalassets/news/2020/lta-guidance-for-tennis-players---covid-19.pdf)

Before leaving home and after you return

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before leaving home to go to the court (or use an alcohol gel if washing hands is not possible)

Equipment

Take hand sanitizer with you

Take all your own equipment (do not share equipment such as rackets, grips, hats and towels)

Ensure you take all your belongings with you at the end of the session and do not leave anything on court

Accessing the courts

Try to minimise touching the fences, bench, etc.

The court gate is locked (the code was sent out with your membership confirmation email) so please take care when opening, and use sanitiser to clean the lock.

The court nets will be set at the appropriate height to avoid players having to adjust them.  The net winders have been removed.

Allow others to leave before you enter the court - if you need to wait then do so away from the courts and clear of the gate.

Ensure you leave the court before the end of your allotted time so that it is empty for the next players

Do not congregate after playing.

Maintain social distancing

Stay at least two metres away from other players at all times (including during play, when taking breaks and before and after play)

Stay on your side of court and avoid changing ends, or agree to change ends at opposite sides of the net

Club Nights

Club nights have re-started and are open to all members of all standards. They run from 6.00 pm until dusk on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Please bring your own balls.

There is an optional  club night WhatsApp group run by Richard McBrien (contact details are in your welcome email) .
