What club events are for me
Tennis is a lifetime sport that can increase physical fitness and health. What’s more, tennis is a highly social sport. Players not only enjoy the competition but also the friendship that comes with participation in the sport. You can play individually or as part of team. It’s a sport that offers something for everyone, regardless of age, background or ability.
Banchory Tennis has many club events and encourages participation from all playing levels.
Below you will find a colour coded overview of these events to highlight which events are suitable for your playing level:
- Youth (yellow events) are all players below the age of 16. Some youth players will already be at recreational or league level.
- Beginners (green events) have never played or have limited experience and primarily work on getting the ball in play. Beginners are at the introduction to the basic principles of tennis and strokes: forehand, backhand, volley, serve and overhead. At the end of this stage, a player should be able to sustain a short rally of slow pace and should be familiar with the basic positions for single and doubles. Basic strokes still need developing.
- A recreational player (pink events) understands the rules of tennis, scoring, and is be able to execute the strokes in a dependable manner.
- A league player (red events) has developed dependable strokes and added variety to his or her game; can control points and occasionally force errors. First serves are hit with pace and accuracy. Teamwork in doubles is evident.
