General Information about the Club
The Barbican Lawn Tennis Club has exclusive access to 2 hard courts owned by the City of London School for Girls from 6 pm on weekdays, and from 8 am at Weekends and during school holidays.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Club is only open to residents of the Barbican Estate in the City of London.
Membership is valid for 12 months from 1st April each year, and is individual to each person; i.e. other household members must each pay their own fee if they wish to be members of the club.
The Club has set an overall limit of 175 on club membership. Those renewing membership from the previous year will have priority until the end of April. Members are not permitted to make any court bookings until they have renewed their membership, and will not be able to request the court key or use the courts other than as a guest until they have their new membership card.
LTA REGISTRATION
The BLTC is registered with the LTA. This means that all BLTC members have the option (but are not obliged) to join “British Tennis”, which is the LTA vehicle for individual membership. We recommend that members obtain at least “lite” membership of British Tennis in order to maximise the Club’s opportunity to obtain tickets in the annual Wimbledon Ballot.
CLUBSPARK
The BLTC uses the ClubSpark on-line court booking system. A ClubSpark Guide for BLTC Members is available from the Club Secretary (barbicanlawntennisclub@gmail.com) on request. Members are responsible for ensuring that their contact details are kept up to date in ClubSpark.
COACHING
John Horler and Marvin Bramble will offer coaching to BLTC members . More information about coaching and coaches is available from the Club Secretary.
CLUB NIGHTS
From mid-April to September, Wednesday evenings are “Club Nights”. Club Nights are for adult members who understand the rules of the game and court etiquette, and who have the skills to participate in a game which is social, but of a gently competitive nature. Club Night is therefore generally not suitable for juniors or beginners.
Further information about the Club can be obtained from the Club Secretary at barbicanlawntennisclub@gmail.com.
