The AGM and Wimbledon Ballot
Our AGM will be held on Thursday evening after club night on April 14th 2016. It will be held at Ian and Carole Turners house, Horseshoe Farm in Barley at 8pm. If any one would like to offer to be on the committee or would like to propose any one for office then please get in touch with Jan Pledger.
As we now are affiliated to the LTA we have been allocated 3 pairs of tickets for the Championships this year. Anyone who is a member of Barley Tennis Club and has a BTM number will be put into the draw that evening and will be notified immediately.

At last the clocks are about to change so we will re start Thursday night tennis sessions on March 31st from 5.30pm. Come along when ever you can get there and join in. We have several new members and would be delighted to have you join us. Don’t forget there are also Sunday morning sessions too that start at 10.30am.
Fundraising Quiz
We held a very successful quiz again this February as funds are always needed to run the club and keep the courts in good condition. A total in the region of £800 was raised. Thanks to all who came and a special thanks to the catering ladies as they produced yet another sumptuous supper for us all and to the bar staff for manning the bar so well.
Junior Coaching
I am disappointed to find that our junior coaches have let us down this year and cannot start coaching after school coaching until May 2016. Matt Fellingham will be in touch with those who had coaching to set up classes on a Friday after school.
If any parent wishes to take their children along to the courts to help their own kids on a regular basis then we can book courts out to you in advance. The younger children will benefit from any help you can give them but ideally they need junior balls to play with. I can advise you on which ball to get.
Senior Coaching
This is available on request during the day time hours. Call Jan Pledger 01763 848242.
If there are any ‘rusty players’ that would like to get together and play then get in touch with Jan and she will try and put you in touch with each other. If you wanted coaching or help in getting back into tennis then this can be arranged.
It is hoped that the club will continue with group senior coaching on a Thursday evening from 6pm to 6.30pm once the Thursdays have been established and have supervised match play on offer on a Thursday if required. If you would just prefer to play and not get involved then let Jan know on the night and you will be catered for.
Tournaments
There are several tournaments in the area during the summer months.
Jan Pledger is organising a Ladies Doubles Tournament in Anstey on Wed June 1st to be held on various courts with in the village. Start time is 9.30am and should be over by 3.30pm including a sumptuous lunch held in the barn at Anstey Bury SG9 0DF. All abilities are catered for as like players are kept together. Fee will be £15 per player and proceeds will go to the Church and Village Hall.
