Social & Coaching Sessions at Barnes Tennis Club

Our drop-in open day social tennis sessions are a wonderful way to meet other members, enjoy some relaxed and friendly tennis, and unwind afterwards with tea, coffee, or a drink from the Club House bar.

We currently have a waiting list for new members, but we’d love to hear from you. Simply complete our online application form, and we’ll be in touch as soon as we schedule our next open day.

Weekly Coaching & Social Play open to All Members

9:30–11:00am – Intermediate Doubles Tactics with Head Coach Tom Maxwell

12:00–1:00pm – Free Tennis Drills for all members with Coach Oli (during school term times)
1:00–3:00pm – Social Tennis open to all members 

Thursdays 
12:00–1:00pm – Free Tennis Drills for all members with Coach Oli (during school term times)

1:00–3:00pm – Social Tennis open to all members 

Saturdays - this is a social session organised by Coach Charlie to ensure that everyone gets to play with lots of different players 
Winter: 1:00–3:00pm ​​​​​​​
Summer: 2:00–4:00pm

Social Events & Club Activities

Club BBQs

We host regular BBQs and social events throughout the year—family and friends are always welcome.

American Tournaments

Fun, friendly mixed-doubles tournaments open to all members.
Players mix partners every few games, making these sessions a great way to meet new people.
Refreshments are served throughout, and summer events often finish with a BBQ open to family and friends.
Members will be notified when sign-ups open.

Box Leagues

Join our singles, doubles, or mixed doubles leagues—perfect for meeting new playing partners and enjoying some friendly competition.

Annual Summer Tournament

Our main Club tournament includes Ladies’, Men’s, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events.
Matches are scheduled to be completed by Finals Day, traditionally held on the last weekend in June. 
Expect tea, cakes, refreshments, and access to the Club House bar all day.
All members are invited to enter.

Quiz Nights

A much-loved annual event!
Teams of four compete in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere, held in the Club House with food provided.

Annual Bonfire Night

Barnes Sports Club hosts a spectacular firework display, bonfire, and BBQ every year.
Club members receive early access to tickets.
