Baslow Sports Field - Covid-19 Update
As you are all aware, we are living through unprecedented times at the moment and I’d like to give you a quick update regarding the impact on Baslow Sports Field.
During the last 3 years, the Trustees of the Sports Field have worked hard on improving the facilities and trying to build up our finances so that we can operate on a sustainable basis over the coming years.
At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic we were in a fairly stable position and were starting to build modest reserves to help fund continuous improvement to the Sports Field.
However, with the complete closure of the Sports Field we now find ourselves with no income coming in, but fixed costs still needing to be covered. Whilst today we are solvent, it is not going to take long for the reserves to deplete with the result we may have difficult decisions to make during the summer on the future of the Sports Field if restrictions continue.
We are, of course, exploring every avenue to find some financial relief. This includes researching national and local government opportunities, speaking to utilities, local councils and our suppliers and contractors and applying to National Sports Agencies ( e.g. Sport England) for any grants we may qualify for.
There is obviously no guarantee we will get any help from the above agencies and if the current restrictions continue for months we could be in real trouble.
One way of helping to sustain the Sports Field over the coming months, and years, would be to make a charitable donation to the Sports Field. For information, all donations we receive go directly towards keeping the Sports Field running along with enabling us to carry out facility improvement projects, all of which benefits the local community directly.
Whilst I absolutely understand many of us are struggling personally in lots of ways with the current situation, I would be deeply grateful if you would consider donating to the Sports Field to help support us through this difficult time. It doesn’t have to be a big amount ( you can donate as little as £10) but rest assured the money will be put to good use in either helping sustain us through the Pandemic or providing extra cash for our future planned projects.
